Witness – An Evening of Photography, Storytelling and Song with Tamir Kalifa

Witness, a multimedia performance by photojournalist and musician Tamir Kalifa, invites audiences into the intimate moments behind the news headlines. Through live projections and music, Tamir weaves his original songs with his images, tracing stories of migration, survival, loss, and hope in a powerful, immersive experience.

In partnership with Tamir, Green Street Photo Collective is also hosting an exhibition, bringing together the work of nine photographers from across New England, Witness explores what it means to observe, document, and remain present in moments shaped by humanity, resilience, and connection. Featured artists include Alesandra “Dre” Gonzales, Artemisia Luk, Bailey Stover, Chloe Ronco, Craig F. Walker, Emily Glick, Korri Crowley, John Savoia, and Rafael Medina.

Tamir is an independent photographer and musician based in Austin, Texas. Guided by the belief that compassionate visual storytelling and music can help deepen the understanding of ourselves and one another, he focuses his work on individuals and communities facing major social, political, and environmental challenges. Tamir’s work has been published widely in The New York Times, Texas Monthly, NPR and other outlets, and his intimate documentation of the families in Uvalde after the Robb Elementary School shooting earned him recognition from the Chris Hondros Fund and the American Mosaic Journalism Prize. Tamir also wrote, recorded and performed original music as a member of Mother Falcon, an Austin-based orchestral indie-rock ensemble founded in 2009. His new multimedia performance project, Witness, blends his images with original songs inspired by his experiences behind the camera.

Tamir’s album, Witness, can be found anywhere music is streamed, including Apple MusicSpotify and Bandcamp

Monthly Critique Night

Monthly Critique Night

Our monthly critique nights at the studio are community events for photographers to have meaningful and constructive conversations about their work.

Critiques are open to all skill levels, but are best suited for a project or story based series (a collection of images, not just single images). You are welcome to bring work any stage — from experimental images to contact sheets, dummies and final edits. We encourage you to bring works in progress, it does not need to be polished work!

We encourage participants to bring physical prints to work with, but will have a monitor/projector available for displaying pictures as well.

To make sure there is enough time for meaningful conversations about the work shared, Presenter Slots are limited to 3 people and names of individuals who have signed up present work will be drawn on the day-of.

Sign up through the link below if you’d like to show work. Don't have work to show? Come to support and give feedback to your fellow photographers.

Join us for our Opening Night at Green Street Photo Collective!

Green Street Photo Collective is a group of photographers from the Boston area brought together by a shared desire for connection, collaboration, and creative growth.

Having just launched our Kickstarter campaign to fund essential renovations, equipment, and studio setup, we're opening our doors to the public to celebrate the beginning of something that brings us all together—a place built by photographers, for photographers.
