Witness – An Evening of Photography, Storytelling and Song with Tamir Kalifa

  • Green Street Photo Collective 186 Green Street Boston, MA, 02130 United States (map)

Witness, a multimedia performance by photojournalist and musician Tamir Kalifa, invites audiences into the intimate moments behind the news headlines. Through live projections and music, Tamir weaves his original songs with his images, tracing stories of migration, survival, loss, and hope in a powerful, immersive experience.

In partnership with Tamir, Green Street Photo Collective is also hosting an exhibition, bringing together the work of nine photographers from across New England, Witness explores what it means to observe, document, and remain present in moments shaped by humanity, resilience, and connection. Featured artists include Alesandra “Dre” Gonzales, Artemisia Luk, Bailey Stover, Chloe Ronco, Craig F. Walker, Emily Glick, Korri Crowley, John Savoia, and Rafael Medina.

Tamir is an independent photographer and musician based in Austin, Texas. Guided by the belief that compassionate visual storytelling and music can help deepen the understanding of ourselves and one another, he focuses his work on individuals and communities facing major social, political, and environmental challenges. Tamir’s work has been published widely in The New York Times, Texas Monthly, NPR and other outlets, and his intimate documentation of the families in Uvalde after the Robb Elementary School shooting earned him recognition from the Chris Hondros Fund and the American Mosaic Journalism Prize. Tamir also wrote, recorded and performed original music as a member of Mother Falcon, an Austin-based orchestral indie-rock ensemble founded in 2009. His new multimedia performance project, Witness, blends his images with original songs inspired by his experiences behind the camera.

Tamir’s album, Witness, can be found anywhere music is streamed, including Apple MusicSpotify and Bandcamp
