Open Studio (Sunday scaries)

Beat the Sunday Scaries by spending time with our current show, PHOBIAS, on view until Oct. 31st. Our studio will be open from 11AM-3PM every Sunday through October.

In collaboration with photographer Billy Hickey, Green Street Photo Collective presents PHOBIAS, a salon-style exhibition that transforms our gallery space into a physical catalog of fear. The selected work of over sixty photographers calls on viewers to reflect on the universal and deeply personal experience of being afraid, and continue the conversation of how we confront fear in our daily lives.

In a month associated with all things scary, PHOBIAS calls on us to look deeper, asking why and getting to the heart of something we all feel, but rarely put to words, and almost never put to visuals.

Featuring the work of: Aakash A. Patel, Alexandra Hickey, Andrew Bailey, Angie Yu, Aryana Erfani, Bryan Liu, Charles Clarke, Charles Siwinski, Charlotte Tuminelli, Chloe Ronco, Clay Lomneth, Daniel Sarch, Danielle Amy, Daymian Mejia, Diana Lemieux, Emilio Musto, Gayle Nosal, Hector Franco, Iaritza Menjivar, Isabel Castro, Jaina Cipriano, Jake Belcher, James Traggianese, Javier Molina, Jenna Whitney, Jerry Rabinowitz, Jessie James, John Savoia, Julia Berger, Kat Donnelly, Kaylee Cataldo-Perry, Kelly Davidson, Laura Oliverio, Lizzy Montana Myers, Lucy Lu, Mari Saxon, Marissa Rossi, Matt Lambros, Meghan Cronin, Meleck Eldahshoury, Mimi Fallon, Minik Bidstrup, Muammar El Khatib, Nicholas Dorian, Nick Solarz, Paul Schwarz, Rosswell Grenier, Ryan Mayfield, Salvatore Spacco, Sandra Hickey, Sarah Blesener, Sebastian Fleming-Garcia, Steven Edson, Sydney Walsh, Syndi Pilar, Thomas Robinson, Tom Rath, Tristen Grannum, Virginia Nash, Xinbo Luo, Zach Ellis and Ziqi Zhang.

In his personal work Billy makes stories about the intersections of the natural and human worlds covering topics such as falconry, light pollution, fireflies, and goats. Billy’s passion is learning about nature and sharing its wonders through photography with the hope to educate and inspire. In 2020 he graduated from the International Center of Photography and his project “How We Were” won first place in Lensculture’s Black and White Photography Awards. Billy’s work has been featured in the Eastern Mass. Hawkwatch’s Newsletter, The Wall Street Journal, STAT News, and the New York Times. From Spring 2023 until Spring 2024, he was an Artist-in-Residence at Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge, MA. During this time Billy made An Uncommon Inheritance which looks at the ecosystem formed in the Cemetery that is shared by human, animals, plant, and fungus alike. He is based in Watertown, Massachusetts, available for assignments around New England.
